Valley of the Kings  -  David Marlatt               Level 2.0               Eigth Note Publication

    

                                                           

A thematic work, Valley of the Kings was inspired by the Great Pyramids. Though it is not a folk song, this selection could be used to open a conversation about how Western culture can learn about a society and it's music, and be inspired to create. It would work in a cross curricular application, and be used to invite community members into the school to speak about the places the music references.  Valley of the Kings is accessible and programmatic, and would be a fun welcome back for students.

Une oeuvre thématique, Valley of the Kings a été inspirée par les grandes pyramides. Malgré que ce ne soit pas une œuvre folklorique, cette pièce offre l’opportunité d’ouvrir la discussion sur comment la culture occidentale peut s’inspirer et apprendre de cette culture pour créer. Le tout pourrait se faire lors d’une table ronde afin d’inviter les membres de la communauté à s’exprimer sur les références inspiré cette musique. Valley of the Kings est accessible et serait bien reçu par les étudiants dans un programme musical.
