Tom Wade West's Amazing Grace with the Last Post - Eighth Note Publishing - Level 1.5

 

Tom Wade West is a teacher and performer based in the Toronto area who plays French horn and tenor horns. He is a member of the Hannaford Street Silver Band and has arranged a number of musical selections for band and small ensembles, published by Eighth Note Publications. Tom has taught instrumental music at Royal St. George's College in Toronto since 1982.

 

Amazing Grace with the Last Post is a beautiful, simple arrangement, suitable for solemn occasions, and perfect for Remembrance Day. The band parts are technically simple, but musically provide opportunities for shape, and for the ensemble to learn to play as accompaniment with the soloist, as well as teaching moments for the understanding of the role the instruments play at different times throughout the piece. If your ensemble needs a trumpet player to play the solo, many high schools, community, and military bands have players that could supplement your ensemble while building your musical community.
